| Description: | The Nurse Manager functions as a leader in the health care team. Responsible for coordination of the health care team in the specialty area of antepartum, low and high risk obstetrical patients, medical/surgical patients, well newborn and selected high risk newborns. Also responsible for preparation and management of unit budget in cooperation with the chief financial officer and chief nursing officer, development and coordination of quality assurance activities, appropriate utilization of human resources, and assist in development of nursing department and hospital strategic plan. |
| Duties: | Assumes responsibility for the coordination of both clinical and managerial duties by maintaining a suitable environment for nursing practice and patient care, assisting staff with ethical, legal and patient/family advocacy issues, demonstrating knowledge and clinical expertise and aiding staff develop the same, and collaborating with the chief nursing officer to develop and implement policies, procedures and systems that support clinical practice of nursing.
Demonstrate fiscal responsibility for the unit.
Work in collaboration with the Human Resources Director and the Chief Nursing Officer to provide competent nursing staff in sufficient number as to deliver effective, safe nursing care.
Develop and maintain unit QA plans in conjunction with unit staff and provide direction for nursing unit’s compliance with hospital-wide quality assurance, safety, hazardous materials, infection control, risk management policies and procedures.

| Qualifications: | Education: Graduated from an accredited nursing program with a registered nurse degree, a current Colorado license. Applicants with a Bacired preferred.
Training and Experience: Three to five years experience in labor and delivery and maternal newborn care, BCLS and NRP certified.
Job Knowledge: Encompasses a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communications and problem-solving, assessment and prioritizing skills.
