Description:This position is at the San Juan Cancer Center in Montrose, Colorado. This position wil be employed by St. Mary's Hospital.

Full Time - 80 hours per two week pay period.

Duties:Maintains hospital and clinic standards and ensures staff is kept informed of updates and knows how to access them online. Monitors staff for compliance with clinic policies and procedures. Updates department specific standards. Ensures that staff competencies are fulfilled and documented.

Responsible for determining staffing schedule to ensure the most appropriate overage for patient care, efficiency, and customer service. Ensures that vacation requests and calendar are appropriately scheduled and documented. Maintains employee personnel files. Edits and approves payroll for the SJCC Joint Venture Radiation Oncology Department.

Develops and maintains department records & reports and collecting statistical data including work with computer databases.

Collaborates with the Medical Director, Chief Therapist, the Montrose Memorial Hospital Medical Oncology Department to ensure that all Radiation Oncology Service operations are functional and provided in the most appropriate, efficient, and effective manner. Assures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, JCAH standards, oncology national organizations and associated databases.

Coordinates patient flow and programs for the SJCC Oncology Service Line in collaboration with the director and other managers.

Participates in Quality Improvement (CQI) processes for revenue cycle improvement, efficient use of supplies and resources. Monitors incident reports and reports to Medical Director and the Director of Oncology Services.

Takes an active role in the "Patient Satisfaction" process including patient complaints and billing issues. Provides data to Medical Director and Director of Oncology Services.

Provides SJCC Management Services and Medical Director with appropriate information for capital equipment requests. Assists with budget preparation and monitoring. Oversees ordering of all supplies and minor equipment for the department.

Reconciles and submits invoices for contracted services and equipment and expense reports for reimbursement.

Assists Medical Director and Management Services with interviewing and hiring of staff. Completes the yearly job performance review and planning for all staff. Maintains appropriate PMI communication for employee files. Documents progressive disciplinary action in employee file.

Ensures that all new employees are scheduled for and complete the hospital orientation and employee benefit sessions. Responsible for all employee departmental orientation and yearly review of same. Assists staff with computer training and orientation.

Works closely with billing department and physician professional group to ensure timely and accurate coding, billing, and account action.

Serves as a liaison with the San Juan Cancer Center physicians and staff which includes Medical Oncology, Montrose Memorial Hospital, Radiation Oncologists, and the St. Mary's Hospital Radiation Oncology Department.

Prepares reports for the San Juan Cancer Center Board of Governors to include operational report and agenda items with submission to Management Services for review and distribution.

Education:
3 years beyond H.S. business or medical office management related education (Bachelor's Degree preferred)

Experience:
More than 3 years in an office setting supervising medical office practice, hospital department, or other comparable business. Experience with medical billing and coding preferred.

Working Environment:
Works in a well lit, heated and ventilated area.

Computer Knowledge and Skills:
Use word processing programs for basic functions such as letter and reports writing AND/OR use spreadsheet software or other applications for basic functions such as maintaining databases, writing simple reports, creating simple calculations (such as adding, subtracting, and dividing numbers).
